Community
Pacific Waldorf School is more than simply a school. It’s a community of families, and together we help support our children as they grow into the brightest and best versions of themselves.
To Costa Rica
Many of the families that make up Pacific Waldorf School are from around the world! Moving to a new country can be a daunting prospect, but PWS has a fantastic, supportive community of families who have taken the leap! We have regular meetups and activities for families, as well as an active online community chat. Our friendly community will help you land on your feet here in Costa Rica. If you’re a family that is new to Waldorf, we regularly have meetups where we will discuss the principles of Waldorf education and explore how we can each bring those principles into our daily lives at home.
Together
From the buildings we use, to the grounds that the children play in, community is at the heart of Pacific Waldorf School. During the school year there are often opportunities to help on campus with special projects such as building new play equipment or helping maintain the school grounds, as well as a good chance to meet other families in the school.
Volunteer, or service hours, are an important part of Waldorf schools. Not only do they help provide support for the school, but they help strengthen the school community, as well as providing a fun way to get to know other families. We have a volunteer hours program for all families to help and feel immersed in the school. Every family volunteers their time and skills to help improve the school for everyone.
Some opportunities for volunteering at the school include:
- Helping clean and tidy classrooms and common areas, including school grounds
- Parent committee
- Assisting in creating crafts to sell at the school faires, cooking food, tidying up & cleaning
- Helping to build & maintain the school buildings and grounds
- Fundraising & event organisation
- IT & Technical support
- Advertising and marketing
